Whats New?

Summer Town Event Volunteers

The Wood Green business forum are planning a summer town event on Saturday 9th July and as part of the event, volunteers will be required to help facilitate the day. It will be a great opportunity to gain or improve your skills whilst working in a fun and lively environment.

Role of the volunteer

Duties include:
  • Assisting to set up and pack up on the day – no heavy lifting should be involved – duties will include displaying posters, bunting, balloons, signage etc
  • Being knowledgeable about the event and an understanding of Small Business Saturday
  • Providing clear signposting of activities/events within Wood Green
  • Able to provide way-finding of all activities  in the area
  • Hand out leaflets/event programmes to passer-bys at their designated area
  • To advise passer-bys of Twitter Competition
  • To advise of promotions to look out for in shop windows (Posters will be displayed in participating businesses)
  • To work in pairs or threes (to be confirmed)

Knowledge:

  • Local area knowledge ( not compulsory)
  • Some knowledge of high street initiatives e.g. Small Business Saturday (will be briefed)
  • Providing role of stewarding at events
  • Basic Health and Safety
  • Basic customer care

Skills:

  • Some experience of stewarding at events
  • Good communication and Verbal skills
  • 2nd language – Turkish an advantage
  • Able to conduct themselves  in a  professional manner
  • A “can-do” attitude
  • Helpful approach
